Baddesley Clinton and Packwood House: These two amazing properties are close together and bang in the heart of the Midlands in Warwickshire, not too far from Birmingham. They’re dead easy to get to and park up at, in your campervan. They’re always decked out traditionally in the style of an early 1900’s Christmas.

Charlecote Park: Situated near Startford-upon-Avon, this one’s a real charmer. Beautiful walks to enjoy in the huge grounds and loads of Christmas activities to enjoy, not to mention Chritmassy things to eat and drink if you fancy a stop off for lunch on your Campervan Christmas tour.

Chatsworth House: Located in the Peak District, Derbyshire, just about 90 minutes or so North of Birmingham, Chatsworth House is a real cracker at Christmas. The house is always beautifully decorated and there are loads of activities and festivities going on such as Christmas craftwork, the garden light trail and the farmyard is also kitted out for Christmas where the kids can get hands on with petting the animals.

The Peak District: Definitely a great place to take your campervan as part of your Midlands Christmas tour in a campervan as there are lots of small villages such as Bakewell, Matlock and Chapel-en-le-Frith which are wonderfully decorated at Christmas and also have Christmas markets and other such special events. Make sure to take your walking boots as well because you can partake in some fairly easy going walking activities which will put you in some amazing locations to enjoy the winter sunrise and winter sunset without putting too much extra strain on your legs. Points of interest such as Mam Tor, near Castleton, Stanage Edge and the Kinder Plateau (the Peak District’s highest point) offer some great walking with amazing views (as long as the weather’s reasonably decent). Wrap up well, though, the wind can be very chilly indeed and you might even see some snow at the top!

Canons Ashby: This is a wonderful National Trust place in Leicestershire. This year they have an Arthurian legends based Christmas theme going on, which sounds exciting. Merlin’s enchanted tree trail and “The Knight Before Christmas” candle lit tour will surely get you in the Christmas mood.

Ice Skating at Christmas in the Midlands: Skating is definitely a Christmassy activity and at this time of year there are quite a few ice rinks set up for just that activity. So, don your woolies and head off to the Malvern’s Three Counties Showground Winter Wonderland in Worcestershire where they have an indoor ice rink set up, West Midlands Safari Park near Kidderminster have one, Solihull near Birmingham has a year round ice rink and, of course, the Snow Dome in Tamworth, just off the M42, has a ski slope where you can ski, snowboard or sledge to your hearts content. There’s nothing more Christmassy than snow!!

Campsites and Wild Camping: Plan your overnight stops carefully, if you’re just visiting the Midlands in your campervan. The Midlands has loads of extremely pleasant campsites with all the glamping facilities such as showers and electricity hook ups. Wild camping might be difficult as all land tends to be privately owned in the Midlands, but there are plenty of designated campsites and campervan stops to avoid potentially getting into hot water with landowners.

Weather and Clothing: As we all know very well, the weather in the UK can be very unpredictable, whatever the season but particularly in the winter. Pack sensibly so that you can layer your clothing, don’t leave without the all-important good quality waterproof coat, trousers, hat and some sturdy walking boots. Good footwear for regular walking around and for hiking across muddy landscapes, is essential.
